Wearing Hearing Aids on Vacation
Hearing aids can be a great help when it comes to those of us who love traveling to exotic destinations for our summer vacations. Even though we may enjoy our vacations, there are various factors we need to keep in mind for those with hearing aids.
Please make note that vacations generally occur in sunny, humid climates. We may even come in contact with water when we decide to go for a nice dip in the hotel pool or a relaxing swim in the sea. Water is one of the greatest threats to the hearing aid, which is why it is important to safe guard your hearing aids before you decide to take that dip in the pool.
Always remove your hearing aids before taking a swim or coming in contact with water through any water sport. Store your hearing aids in an air tight and water proof container, well away from direct sunlight and the reach of pets and young children. At the end of the day, use a dehumidifier to get rid of any moisture trapped inside the hearing aids, and remove them and store them with their battery doors open at night.
Next on the threat list is dirt, dust, and sand. Any foreign particles that get into your hearing aids can cause them to malfunction. This is why it is important to clean your hearing aids thoroughly each night using the cleaning kit provided to you with your hearing aids. Simple steps go a long way in protecting your hearing aids so that you can make the most of your summer vacation.
